What is xo
xo is the command line for XO Cloud. It creates spaces, keeps your projects in them, and shares them, with one login.
xo is the command line for XO Cloud. Every XO
Cloud call is a command, and xo sends your XO API key on each request without
ever printing it. xo is separate from qq: you can use either without the
other.
A space is a collection of GitHub repos: any public repo, such as Flask or Requests, next to your own. xo creates the space, keeps each repo in it at a branch, tag or commit, and invites others to a copy of it, so a team works on the same set of repos.
xo create project https://github.com/pallets/flask # any GitHub repo
xo connect flask web # into your space web
xo share space:web alex # invites alex to a copyWith xo you:
- create spaces on XO Cloud, such as a Claude Code, Codex or OpenClaw space, or a space on the quirq hub (or GitHub) made from a folder of your repos;
- keep projects in a space: your GitHub repos, each at a branch, tag or commit, cloned and pushed with your own git;
- share a space or a project with another XO user, who accepts it into their own spaces.
One login, three services
One xo login logs you in to all three. xo status shows each one and
whether you are logged in.
| Service | Address | What it does | You log in with |
|---|---|---|---|
me | https://xo.quirq.dev | the xo server: answers xo me, records your projects and spaces (in your XO account, or on the quirq hub when it keeps one), passes creates on to XO Cloud | your XO API key, which xo login gets when you sign in to XO in your browser |
xo | https://dev.xo.builders | XO Cloud: creates the spaces | the same key, through the xo server |
github | https://github.com | your GitHub account, through the GitHub CLI (gh) | gh's own login, in your browser |
When the xo server keeps a quirq hub, xo login also links the hub's
client, spacehub, and xo status adds a hub line. The hub is where a
folder space goes, and where a space's xo update and xo sync push, while
GitHub stays where the work ends up. xo sh runs spacehub there, and xo gh
runs gh (the hub).
xo keeps your keys only on your machine, and the xo server stores none. Your XO key is still sent to the xo server and to XO Cloud on every call, and a create copies it into the new space.
Install xo
One command with qq-setup, or one paste by hand. Linux, macOS and Windows.
Sign in to XO in your browser, and connect GitHub.
Create a space
Preview it first, then create it on XO Cloud.
Projects in a space
Add repos, put them in a space, install, update and sync.
The quirq hub
Work on a project together through the hub, with xo sh.
XO Space and XO Cloud themselves, their agents and the web app are
documented at docs.xo.builders. This section is
about the xo command line. Its source and its own guides are in
quirq-ai/xo.
